School Safety Prevention Specialist: What is it?
Section 36 of the Student Success Act, and Senate Bill 52, also known as Adi’s Act, was passed in 2019 and called for the creation of a School Safety and Prevention System ("System") to support the health and well-being of Oregon students and school communities
Grant County ESD employs a School Safety Prevention Specialist (SSPS) to work with all schools in Grant County. The SSPS serves to guide school policy, training and response in the area(s) of student safety as it relates to suicide prevention, behavioral safety assessments as well as school climate and culture. The SSPS works with all students , staff and parents to promote student wellness and combat increasing rates of suicide and bullying in the student population.
